Speculation, cogitation, conjecture and theory

First published in Love, Loss and Cardia Issues (2022) an Impspired anthology that has been available through Amazon (the link

to the listing is embedded in the image below) – this work arose from some creative self-translation of material originally settled in

Chinese, Sanskrit, Latin and Old Norse.

Speculation, cogitation, conjecture and theory

‘Seizing an opportunity for benefit or profit’

(speculation)

is like a trebuchet

(or any other weapon that throws stones),

‘carefully thinking things over’

(cogitation)

involves supposition, surmising, speculation or conjecture and ‘theory’

(a coherent idea that explains observed facts and correctly predicts new phenomena) …

the latter may be considered synonymous with doctrine

(a tenet of philosophical matters).

Criticizing, scolding or upbraiding

learning or knowledge

is deep advocacy or promotion

of lamentation and grief

well-acquainted with the workings of the heart and mind

that has been abandoned.

To discard the heart and mind is like a deep sleep …

thoughts, feelings and moods that promote, advocate and reason

predict, expect and anticipate

understanding, realization, learning, knowledge,

teaching, instruction, training, happiness

and delight.

Infer – make a judgement …

fixing, settling or arranging

makes principles.

Estimation, assessment, reckoning or consideration

scatters and disperses

so that conceptualization

is fundamental.

Thinking, planning, intention, discussion, talk or debate

that initially calms oneself

is the beginning.

This work will also be presented in Treasures from the Void (2023).
